Gyakie expresses desire for collaboration with Sade

Ghanaian R&B and Afro-fusion singer Gyakie, born Jackline Acheampong, has identified Nigerian-British singer-songwriter Sade as her dream collaborator. During an interview on Joy Prime’s Changes show with host Nikki Samonas, Gyakie explained that she is drawn to Sade’s lyrical themes and vocal tone, particularly her focus on love songs.

Gyakie, also known as the ‘Songbird’, rose to prominence with her 2020 hit ‘Forever’ from the EP Seed, which topped charts in Ghana, Kenya, and Nigeria. She recently released a new track titled ‘Your Body’.

In a separate discussion regarding social media engagement, Gyakie defended her decision to be selective about which accounts she follows. Responding to criticism regarding her lack of reciprocal following on social platforms, she noted that with 2.1 million followers, it is impossible to follow everyone and suggested that some local criticism stems from a lack of appreciation for Ghanaian public figures.
