Gyanesh Kumar case under examination by Kerala Vigilance
Kerala Vigilance Director Manoj Abraham announced that the department is examining an old case involving Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. A decision regarding the matter is expected within approximately one week following a scrutiny of files.
The inquiry follows a directive from Kerala Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala for the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB) to investigate alleged irregularities during Kumar’s 2006 tenure as PWD Secretary. The case involves the alleged suicide of Malaysian civil engineer Lee See Been, whose suicide note reportedly named Kumar.
Fresh inquiries were initiated due to allegations that a 2006 preliminary investigation was derailed by external pressure. The political controversy coincides with protests by INDIA bloc MPs against the Election Commission regarding electoral roll revisions.
