Gyanesh Kumar begins three-day visit to Bhutan

Chief Election Commissioner of India Gyanesh Kumar has commenced a three-day visit to Bhutan to strengthen institutional cooperation between the Election Commission of India and the Election Commission of Bhutan.

During the visit, Kumar is scheduled to meet the King of Bhutan in Thimphu and Prime Minister Dasho Tshering Tobgay. He will also serve as the chief guest for Bhutan’s National Voters’ Day celebrations at the Jigme Singye Wangchuck School of Law in Paro. Additionally, the visit includes interactions with senior Bhutanese civil servants.

The trip aligns with the Election Commission of India’s ongoing efforts to promote democratic practices and election management globally. This follows recent initiatives such as the International Election Visitors' Programme 2026, which provided international delegates with demonstrations of India’s electronic voting machines and electoral framework.
