Gyeonggi Arts Center to host Sherlock Holmes book classic concert

The Gyeonggi Arts Center will host the ‘2026 Seoga Concert: Sherlock Holmes’ on September 8 at 7:30 PM. This ‘book classic’ performance combines classical music with literary commentary, focusing on Arthur Conan Doyle’s iconic detective character.

Mystery novelist Jung Myung-seop will provide commentary, exploring the background of Sherlock Holmes, Conan Doyle’s literary world, and the social atmosphere of Victorian England. The musical accompaniment will be provided by the Holz String Quartet.

The 90-minute program features works such as Schubert’s ‘The Trout’, Mendelssohn’s ‘Songs Without Words’, Bach’s ‘St Matthew Passion’, Beethoven’s Violin Sonata No. 9 ‘Kreutzer’, and Paganini’s Caprice No. 24. The performance aims to connect the music to the character’s personality and the tension of the detective stories.
