Gyeonggi Ceramic Biennale to be held in Icheon, Gwangju, and Yeoju
Gyeonggi Province and the Korea Ceramic Foundation have announced the ‘2026 Gyeonggi Ceramic Biennale,’ which will be held across three major hubs—Icheon, Gwangju, and Yeoju—until November 1.
The event features diverse programming tailored to each location. Icheon will host the main exhibition, ‘Earth Makes,’ showcasing experimental contemporary ceramic art from 67 artists representing 14 countries. Gwangju will focus on mastery and tradition with a special exhibition titled ‘Ceramic Masters of Our Time,’ featuring 64 masters. Yeoju will present ‘Unfamiliar Tradition,’ a special exhibition linked to the art market that reinterprets traditional materials like earthenware and Onggi through a contemporary lens.
In addition to exhibitions, the biennale includes international workshops, academic conferences, a Kids Biennale, and local artist markets. Programs are designed to allow visitors to engage directly with the art through artist talks and open studios.
