The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education in South Korea announced a new task force to create a Teacher Rights Protection system, modeled after the fictional Educational Rights Protection Bureau depicted in the Netflix drama “Teach You a Lesson.” Over 1,800 applicants responded to the call for 50 part‑time protection officers, prompting officials to consider expanding the intake to about 100. Selected officers will work under Superintendent Ahn Min‑seok, providing teachers with legal advice, counseling, psychological care and follow‑up assistance when faced with malicious complaints or rights violations.

The same drama has achieved notable viewership success, ranking in Netflix’s all‑time top‑10 chart for non‑English series. Eight weeks after its June 5 release, “Teach You a Lesson” logged 60.2 million views and reached No. 10 overall, later climbing to No. 7 on the weekly chart, highlighting the series’ resonance with global audiences and its influence on public discourse about teacher rights.
