Gyeonggi Province inspects railway construction sites for safety and wage compliance

Gyeonggi Province is conducting comprehensive inspections of six railway construction sites ahead of the Chuseok holiday. The inspections, running from September 8 to 10, target the Okjeong–Pocheon Line (sections 1–3) and the Dobongsan–Okjeong Line (sections 1–3).

The provincial government is focusing on two primary areas: safety management and the timely payment of wages and construction costs. Safety inspections include reviewing emergency contact networks, disaster preparedness for flooding, fire safety equipment, and the stability of ground and drainage facilities to prevent collapses.

Simultaneously, officials are monitoring whether construction workers' wages and subcontracting payments are being settled correctly. This includes verifying if subcontractors received payments within 15 days of the main contractor receiving funds, checking for unpaid equipment rental fees, and ensuring local businesses such as gas stations and restaurants near the sites have been paid.
