Gyeonggi Province opens applications for Youth Basic Income

Gyeonggi Province will begin accepting applications for the third quarter of its Youth Basic Income program starting September 1. The program provides 250,000 KRW per quarter in local currency to 24-year-old residents, totaling up to 1 million KRW annually.

To qualify, applicants must have been born between July 2, 2001, and July 1, 2002. They must also meet residency requirements, having lived in Gyeonggi Province for at least three consecutive years or a cumulative total of 10 years. Certain areas, such as Seongnam and Goyang, and foreign nationals are excluded from this specific program.

Applications can be submitted online via the ‘Jobaba’ platform from September 1 until October 2. Due to changes in electronic signature authentication, new applicants must re-apply every quarter, though those who previously opted into automatic applications will maintain their status. Selected recipients will receive payments starting October 20. The funds can be used at local currency merchants within the recipient's municipality, with specific exceptions allowing for use across the province for academy tuition and exam fees.
