Gyeonggi Province proposes 13 reforms to accelerate housing supply

Gyeonggi Province is proposing 13 institutional reforms to the central government and National Assembly to accelerate the supply of public housing, including projects within the 3rd generation new cities.

Governor Chu Mi-ae led a meeting to discuss ways to ensure that the government’s recent housing supply measures translate into actual field results. While the central government aims to reduce the period from site announcement to construction from 68 to 37 months, Gyeonggi Province argues that additional bottlenecks must be addressed.

Key proposals include: - Simplifying compensation procedures by allowing the use of digital records for land and building registries, which currently account for 30–40% of basic survey workloads. - Synchronizing the designation of public housing districts with corporate relocation sites to prevent delays in construction. - Expanding the authority of provincial governors to approve public housing projects up to 3.3 million square meters. - Exempting regional transportation improvement projects included in housing plans from preliminary feasibility studies to shorten project timelines.

The province plans to finalize a joint proposal after gathering feedback from agencies such as the Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) and the Gyeonggi Housing and Urban Development Corporation (GH).
