Gyeonggi Province secures 95.8 billion KRW for border area development

Gyeonggi Province has secured a record 95.8 billion KRW in national budget for 2027 to support development in border areas. This represents an increase of 31.6 billion KRW compared to the current year.

The funding is divided into two main categories: 77.8 billion KRW for the Special Situation Area Development Project, which focuses on improving basic living infrastructure and local income in underdeveloped areas, and 18.1 billion KRW for the Border Area Development Support Project, aimed at promoting ecological and peace tourism.

Planned projects include the construction of a public bus garage in Gapyeong, the development of the Jeongok-ri ruins in Yeoncheon, and environmental improvements along Peace Road connecting Yangju, Dongducheon, and Yeoncheon. The province expects these funds to accelerate the expansion of road infrastructure, culture, welfare, and tourism facilities in regions that have endured various regulations for national security purposes.
