Gyeonggi Liquor Awards selects nine top traditional liquors

The Gyeonggi Agricultural Products and Fisheries Promotion Agency has selected nine outstanding traditional liquors for the ‘2026 Gyeonggi Liquor Awards’. The competition, which aimed to discover high-quality traditional liquors using Gyeonggi rice and enhance the brand competitiveness of local breweries, saw 78 products from 46 breweries enter the contest.

In the Takju (cloudy rice wine) category, ‘Uri-cheotsul Cheongseol’ received the Grand Prize. In the Yak/Cheongju (medicinal/clear rice wine) category, ‘Cheonbihyang Yakju’ took the Grand Prize. For the distilled spirits category, ‘Gyeol 52% Rice Distilled Soju’ was awarded the Grand Prize.

Notably, breweries from Yeoju achieved significant success in the distilled spirits category. Sul-awon’s ‘Pil 40’ received the Excellence Award, marking the company’s second consecutive year of winning at the Gyeonggi Liquor Awards. Chuyeondang’s ‘Soyeogang 42’ earned the Participation Award, continuing the brewery’s four-year streak of consecutive awards across various categories.

To promote these products, a Gyeonggi Pavilion is being operated at the ‘2026 Seoul International Liquor & Wine Expo’ in Magok, featuring exhibitions, sales, and consumer events to expand market access for local breweries.
