Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education declares reading education transformation

The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education held a ceremony to declare a ‘Great Transformation in Gyeonggi Reading Education’ on the 28th. The initiative aims to establish a sustainable reading education ecosystem that connects schools, homes, and local communities to support students' holistic growth in the rapidly changing AI era.

During the event, which was attended by approximately 600 people including students, parents, teachers, and education officials, participants discussed the importance of reading for developing critical thinking and emotional intelligence. A vision talk featured poet Ahn Do-hyun and various educational stakeholders who shared perspectives on how to encourage reading amidst digital distractions.

Superintendent Ahn Min-seok emphasized that the transformation would go beyond a mere declaration, promising full budgetary support to ensure children find joy in reading. The ceremony concluded with the reading of a vision declaration by representatives of students, teachers, parents, and local government leaders.
