Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education hosts reading and humanities education forum

The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education held the ‘2026 Gyeonggi Reading and Humanities Education: Today and Tomorrow’ event at the Seoul National University Siheung Campus Convention Center. Under the theme ‘Reading lessons, sharing experiences, and growing together,’ the forum brought together approximately 600 experts, including teachers and librarians, to discuss the future direction of reading education.

Moving away from traditional lecture-based formats, the event functioned as a participatory festival where teachers served as both presenters and participants. The program included a lecture by author Kang Won-guk, policy proposals, and the sharing of 67 different practical case studies covering topics such as RAS (Reading, Arts, Sports) integration, digital and AI-linked reading, and book writing.

A ‘Reading Education Gallery’ showcased the results of activities from 82 schools and teams, featuring student-made books, 3D-printed items, and AI-generated literary videos. Lee Jong-yoon, head of the RAS Education Division at the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education, stated that the office intends to support the expansion of these practices and drive a major transformation in reading education based on teacher feedback.
