Gyeongju City completes demolition of Oedong-eup concrete plant

Gyeongju City has completed the demolition of a long-standing ready-mix concrete plant in Oedong-eup as part of a rural space reorganization project. The project, which began in 2022, involved a total investment of 9.9 billion won, including 2.5 billion won in national funds.

The plant had been in operation since 1991, causing decades of noise and dust pollution for nearby residents in apartments and housing areas. The demolition and subsequent site cleanup aim to improve the living environment and landscape of the region.

Gyeongju City is now reviewing various plans for the 24,558 square meter site. Potential uses being considered include attracting national projects, constructing housing or dormitories for workers, or creating a park golf course. The city plans to conduct a service study to determine the most effective way to utilize the land for public benefit and regional development.
