Gyeongju opens APEC Memorial Hall to mark summit anniversary
Gyeongju and Gyeongbuk Province held a ceremony on October 31 to open the APEC Memorial Hall at the Gyeongju APEC Memorial Park. The facility was established to commemorate the first anniversary of the 2025 APEC Summit, featuring recreations of the main summit venue and bilateral meeting rooms to provide an immersive experience of the diplomatic event.
The memorial includes an archive for preserving summit records and a media hall showcasing Gyeongju’s history of international exchange, from the ancient Silk Road to modern diplomacy. A photo exhibition featuring key moments from the summit is scheduled to run until December 31.
To celebrate, various community events were held, including the “Bomun Night Run with Wally,” which drew approximately 4,100 participants, and the “APEC Memorial Festa,” where 1,000 international students participated in cultural exchange programs. Local officials stated that the memorial aims to transform the summit’s achievements into sustainable cultural and tourism assets for the city.
