Gyeongju to host World National Heritage Industry Exhibition
Gyeongju City will host the ‘2026 World National Heritage Industry Exhibition’ from the 10th to the 12th at the Gyeongju Hwabaek Convention Center (HICO). Under the theme ‘From Heritage to Industry: A 10-Year Leap,’ the event is held alongside the Hanok Culture Expo to showcase technologies and products related to national heritage and traditional architecture.
The exhibition will feature advanced technologies such as AI, 3D, and XR (Extended Reality) applied to heritage preservation, restoration, and utilization. A key program, ‘Rediscovery of Heritage,’ will include a lecture by former Go player Lee Sedol and neuroscientist Dr. Jang Dong-sun, discussing human value and the meaning of national heritage in the age of AI.
Other scheduled activities include the ‘Heritage Future Forum’ and the ‘Heritage Korea Week,’ which expands the event's scope across Gyeongju. Visitors can utilize a ‘Heritage Pass’ for discounts or free entry to major historical sites, and the ‘AI Cinema’ will screen 11 films utilizing artificial intelligence. Admission to the exhibition and expo is free.
