Gyeongsan and Sangju Cities Approve 2026 Additional Budgets
The city of Gyeongsan in North Gyeongsang Province submitted a 2026 second supplementary budget of 1.5724 trillion won, a 4.3 % increase over the base budget. The plan allocates 1.3977 trillion won to the general account and 174.7 billion won to the special account, funding items such as a 7.5 billion won high‑oil damage support grant, a 7.1 billion won incentive fund for the local "Gyeongsan Love Card," and compensation for loss on non‑profit bus routes. Mayor Cho Hyun‑il said the budget prioritises citizen welfare and economic recovery amid tight fiscal conditions.
Sangju City likewise presented its 2026 second supplementary budget, topping 1.4806 trillion won, a 9 % rise over the original estimate. The general account grows to 1.3833 trillion won, with additional special‑account allocations for disaster relief, agricultural insurance, and new infrastructure projects such as a cultural arts center (11 billion won) and improvements to the Nakdong River water‑intake facilities. Mayor Ahn Jae‑min highlighted the focus on safety, rapid disaster‑prevention measures, and laying groundwork for a national food‑industry cluster.
