Gyeongsangbuk-do and Gyeongju target global business hub status

Gyeongsangbuk-do and Gyeongju are collaborating to transform the region into a global business hub by focusing on future mobility and advanced nuclear industries. At the ‘2026 Gyeongbuk Global Future Mobility Forum,’ experts from Hyundai Motor, Kakao Mobility, and Volvo Trucks Korea discussed electrification, AI-based autonomous driving, and large electric trucks to help local automotive parts manufacturers transition to future vehicle technologies.

In a strategic meeting titled ‘Gyeongju DAY,’ officials discussed accelerating the development of a Small Modular Reactor (SMR) national industrial complex, expanding proton accelerator performance, and improving regional transportation networks. The initiative aims to evolve Gyeongju from a historical tourism destination into a center for MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) and high-tech manufacturing, including RE100 e-mobility industrial complexes and AI-integrated manufacturing processes.
