Gyeongsangbuk-do Education Office accelerates 2030 transformation plan
Gyeongsangbuk-do Superintendent Lim Jong-sik has marked 100 days of his third term by accelerating a major transformation of the regional education system. A central pillar of this initiative is a 50% reduction in existing policy projects to alleviate the administrative burden on schools, allowing teachers to focus more on instruction and student guidance.
The ‘Gyeongsangbuk-do Education 2030 Transformation’ focuses on several key areas: human-centered AI education, hyper-connected schools to bridge educational gaps in rural areas, and enhanced protection for educational activities. To support these goals, the Office of Education is undergoing an organizational restructuring, which includes the planned establishment of an AI Digital Education Department by 2027.
Additionally, the office is working to globalize vocational education by collaborating with Uzbekistan to export Gyeongsangbuk-do's vocational high school curricula and operational models. While pursuing these reforms, the office is also advocating for stable educational finances amidst potential changes to government local education grant systems.
