Gyeongsangbuk-do expands AI Metaverse Film Festival into global industry platform

Gyeongsangbuk-do is expanding the Gyeongbuk International AI Metaverse Film Festival (GAMFF) into a global industrial platform to support local companies and talent in entering international markets. The third annual festival saw a significant increase in participation, with 3,403 entries from 97 countries. Notably, international submissions surged from 72 last year to 1,587 this year.

The festival will be held across Gumi, Pohang, and Gyeongsan starting next month. Each city will focus on specific industrial sectors: Gumi will center on AI and virtual convergence industries to connect talent with businesses; Pohang will target the film and advertising sectors using AI and visual effects (VFX); and Gyeongsan will focus on the convergence of AI and the gaming industry.

To bolster the ecosystem, the province plans to host investment consultations for K-culture content producers involving a 150 billion won fund and export consultations with international buyers. Gyeongsangbuk-do aims to expand its global network from the US, China, and Japan into Europe, with a long-term goal of growing GAMFF into a world-class event involving over 150 countries.
