Gyeongsangbuk-do regional administrative and industrial initiatives

Gyeongju City received three awards at the ‘2026 Gyeongsangbuk-do Innovation and Active Administration Excellence Case Contest’ held on the 16th. The city earned an excellence award for developing an automated welfare field program that significantly reduces repetitive tasks, and two encouragement awards for using drones and thermal imaging for solar facility management and for establishing a regional care system to reduce service gaps.

In Gumi, the Korea Industrial Complex Corp (KICOX) Gyeongbuk Regional Headquarters hosted the ‘2026 KIBA Gumi Happy Culture Experience Festival’ on the 16th. The event aimed to transform the Gumi National Industrial Complex into a worker-friendly space by integrating culture, safety, and advanced technology. Activities included cultural performances, VR industrial safety training, and the introduction of the ‘Gumi Smart Flow’ project, which utilizes AI semiconductors to analyze CCTV and drone footage for traffic and road safety management.
