Gyeongsangbuk-do secures 4.5 billion won for fruit production complexes
Gyeongsangbuk-do has been selected for three fruit specialized production complex projects through the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs' 2027 infrastructure development contest. These three sites, located in the Ogil district of Yeongcheon and the Gido 1 and Dongbyeon districts of Uiseong, account for 75% of the four sites selected nationwide.
The project involves a total investment of 5.6 billion won, including 4.5 billion won in national funds. The initiative will run for two years starting in 2027, focusing on areas where more than 30 hectares of fruit are collectively cultivated. Key improvements will include expanding water supply facilities such as bedrock wells and pumping stations, widening and paving access and cultivation roads, and organizing orchard land.
Because 80% of the project cost is covered by national funds and 20% by local funds, participating farmers will face no out-of-pocket expenses. The province aims to improve cultivation conditions for water security, machinery access, and harvest transport while proactively responding to climate change.
