Gyeongsangbuk-do Superintendent announces 2030 education reform plan

Gyeongsangbuk-do Superintendent Lim Jong-sik has announced the ‘Gyeongsangbuk-do Education 2030 Great Transformation’ plan to overhaul regional educational policies. A central component of this initiative involves reducing existing policy projects by 50% to reallocate administrative and financial resources toward core priorities, specifically artificial intelligence (AI) education and customized student support.

The reform focuses on five key areas: AI transformation, customized growth, safe schools, regional coexistence, and empathetic administration. Key measures include establishing an AI growth platform for career exploration, launching a ‘Dream Fund’ to support student goals, and creating a specialized support group of 130 teachers with AI convergence master's degrees to assist in classrooms. To address educational gaps, the office will expand online schools and implement the ‘Ieum Studio’ and ‘Ieum Teacher System’ to share resources between schools.

Additionally, the office is strengthening support systems to protect educational activities by enhancing the functions of school support centers to handle malicious complaints and legal or psychological counseling. Internationally, the office aims to export its vocational education models by applying Gyeongsangbuk-do’s curricula and training systems to Uzbekistan. To support these changes, an organizational restructuring is planned for 2027, which includes the creation of a new AI Digital Education Department.
