Gyeongsangbuk-do to promote forest-based 6th industry investments
Gyeongsangbuk-do province announced plans to transform its forest resources into a new driver for regional economic growth. During the first annual Gyeongsangbuk-do Forestry Workers Day ceremony, officials outlined strategies to expand investments in the 6th industry, which integrates the production, processing, and tourism of specialized forest products.
The province aims to establish forest management special zones and forest investment pilot districts. These initiatives are designed to increase productivity through large-scale management and attract private investment to create sustainable jobs and income bases in mountain villages.
Governor Lee Cheol-woo stated that the goal is to move beyond mere forest preservation to create a landscape where forestry workers can earn stable incomes and young people can find new opportunities and settle in rural areas.
