Gyeongsangbuk-do to submit proposal for new national medical school
Gyeongsangbuk-do is preparing to submit a formal proposal to the Ministry of Education by the 20th to establish a new national medical school. The province, which currently lacks a tertiary general hospital, has been selected as a candidate site for a medical school intended to open by 2030 with an initial capacity of approximately 100 students.
Working alongside National Gyeongguk University, the province aims to include detailed operational plans in the proposal, such as securing roughly 110 faculty members, establishing medical facilities, and constructing a 500-bed affiliated hospital. The estimated project cost is approximately 430.5 billion KRW. A final decision regarding the establishment of the school is expected as early as late this month or next month.
