Gyeongsangnam-do selects 14 schools for morning meal pilot program
The Gyeongsangnam-do Office of Education has finalized the selection of 14 pilot schools for its ‘morning simple meal support’ program, a campaign promised by Superintendent Kwon Soon-gi. The initiative will begin in September and target 1,226 students across six elementary, seven middle, and one high school.
Supported by a budget of approximately 411 million won, the program provides nutritious, easy-to-eat meals such as fruit, bread, rice cakes, eggs, and porridge to students participating in morning activities like reading, physical education, or autonomous study. The project aims to support both student health and the local economy by prioritizing the purchase of regional agricultural products and specialties.
The Office of Education plans to analyze the results through surveys to evaluate the feasibility of establishing a sustainable, long-term support system.
