Gynecological oncologists urge removal of stigma to improve women's health

Medical professionals are emphasizing the critical need to eliminate social stigma and taboos surrounding women's reproductive health to improve early detection and treatment outcomes for gynecological malignancies.

In Croatia, gynecological oncologists highlighted the development of new European guidelines aimed at standardizing care and improving quality of life for patients. Experts stressed the importance of centralized treatment for rare tumors and comprehensive health assessments prior to surgery. They noted that systemic stigma often prevents necessary discussions regarding sexuality and post-treatment recovery, leading to patient isolation.

In Serbia, health initiatives are focusing on the importance of regular preventive screenings, such as PAP smears and HPV typing, as many gynecological cancers lack early symptoms. Medical specialists recommend annual check-ups for women of all ages, noting that while risk increases with age, early detection significantly improves treatment success and patient comfort.
