Győr and Kecskemét host events for European Mobility Week

Hungarian cities Győr and Kecskemét are participating in European Mobility Week, an initiative by the European Commission to promote sustainable urban transport. The 2026 theme, ‘Mobility for Everyone’, focuses on creating accessible and safe transport systems for all generations.

In Győr, professional lectures and roundtable discussions will be held on September 16 at the Generations Cultural Center. The event will address the current state of suburban railway development, short-term improvements, and long-term visions to combat increasing road congestion and pollution caused by rising car ownership.

Kecskemét will host a week of activities centered in the main square, including workshops, community programs, and a ‘Green Dome’. On September 22, residents are encouraged to opt for cycling, walking, or public transit instead of driving. The city aims to address high vehicle density, noting that Kecskemét had one of the highest rates of cars per capita among county seats in 2020.
