György Cserhalmi criticizes cultural Secretary over SZFE

Actor György Cserhalmi has criticized the response from Ervin Nagy, the State Secretary for Culture, regarding the situation at the University of Theatre and Film Arts (SZFE). Cserhalmi argues that the Secretary's response does not substantively address the concerns raised about the university.

Cserhalmi expressed concern that the restructuring of the university's foundation board could lead to political appointments, a practice he referred to as ‘parachuting.’ He noted that the SZFE case has become a symbol for young people who fear that despite political changes, the underlying cultural power structures remain the same.

In response to previous criticisms, Ervin Nagy stated that the current administration aims to move away from a system based on personal connections and toward one based on professional merit and ideas. However, Cserhalmi questioned the authenticity of the Secretary's written response and warned against the ‘now we are coming’ mentality, which he described as harmful to a small country.
