György Magyar warns of risks in releasing agent files
Lawyer György Magyar has expressed concerns regarding the public release of former agent files, suggesting the process may cause more harm than good. He noted that the authenticity and completeness of these historical documents are uncertain, as data handling during the regime change was inconsistent and some records may have been lost or altered.
Magyar emphasized that while the release might aim to provide transparency, the mere inclusion of a name does not prove an individual acted as an agent. He warned that the disclosure could trigger significant family conflicts and emotional distress, particularly if individuals are wrongly identified or if long-standing family relationships are damaged by the revelation of past associations.
