GYSEV seeks Chief Landscape Architect for green space management

GYSEV, the railway company operating a significant portion of the Hungarian rail network, has announced a search for a Chief Landscape Architect. The position was introduced by Minister of Transport and Investment Dávid Vitézy to modernize the management of green spaces along railway lines.

The initiative aims to harmonize railway safety with ecological and environmental protection. Vitézy noted that current regulations can lead to unnecessary tree cutting and that the strategic goal is to implement sustainable green space management. This follows a similar recruitment effort by the MÁV Group.

GYSEV recently expanded its operations, taking over approximately 752–753 kilometers of rail lines from MÁV as of July 1, 2025, which accounts for roughly 16 percent of the Hungarian rail network. The new role will focus on analyzing existing regulations to ensure they align with 21st-century ecological standards without compromising rail safety.
