Güzelordu Meliha Lütfü Türkmen Primary School celebrates 100 years in Ordu
Established in 1923, the same year the Republic of Turkey was founded, the Güzelordu Meliha Lütfü Türkmen Primary School in Ordu has completed over a century of educational service. Originally known as Numune-i İrfan Mektebi, the institution adopted the name Güzelordu in 1930.
After sustaining damage from two earthquakes, the school was rebuilt in 2012. The current facility was constructed by businessman Vedat Türkmen in honor of his parents, maintaining a design consistent with historical architecture. Today, the school operates with 32 classrooms, laboratories, and a conference hall.
The school preserves historical artifacts, including old diplomas, attendance registers, photo albums, and vintage bells, to showcase its long history to visitors.
