GZM Climathon invites students to develop urban eco-food solutions

The Upper Silesian and Zagłębie Metropolis (GZM) has opened recruitment for the Climathon GZM, a 24-hour creative marathon focused on climate protection. This year’s theme is ‘Eco-food in the city,’ aiming to develop solutions that improve access to healthy, local food in urban environments.

Participants will focus on three main areas: promoting local and seasonal products, developing safe urban farming, and food education and sharing. Potential solutions include tools for identifying local producers, maps for communal plant cultivation, and educational projects. The event will take place on October 26 and 27 at the SpinPLACE located at the University of Silesia in Katowice.

Students from across Poland, including undergraduate, graduate, postgraduate, and doctoral levels, are invited to apply by October 21. No specialized technical knowledge is required, as participants will work alongside experts and mentors. Prizes for the competition include 12,000 PLN for first place, 7,000 PLN for second, and 5,000 PLN for third.
