Göztepe coach Stanimir Stoilov criticizes team performance after loss to Gaziantep

Göztepe head coach Stanimir Stoilov described the team’s 2-4 loss to Gaziantep in Izmir as potentially the worst match of his three-year tenure at the club. Following the defeat, the team remains in a difficult position, having secured only one point from their first four matches of the season.

Stoilov noted that the team struggled in both attack and defense, failing to win crucial duels on the pitch. He addressed tactical decisions made during halftime, specifically the substitutions of Ege Yıldırım and goalkeeper Luka Gugeshvili, stating the changes were made to protect the players' mental well-being following fan reactions and individual errors.

Looking ahead, Stoilov expressed hope that the return of Sonko Sundberg and Juan Camilo Godoy from injury will stabilize the defensive line. He emphasized the need for the entire Göztepe family to unite to overcome the current crisis.
