Turkey names 2026-27 Süper Lig season after Adnan Süvari

The Turkey Football Federation (TFF) announced that the 2026‑27 Süper Lig will be officially titled the "2026‑2027 Trendyol Süper Lig Adnan Süvari Sezonu". The naming follows the federation’s tradition of honoring historic coaches and former national players by assigning their names to league seasons.

Adnan Süvari (1926‑1991) was born in Aydın and spent most of his career in İzmir. He began coaching at Karşıyaka before leading Göztepe to historic European performances, reaching the UEFA Fair Cities Cup semi‑final in 1968‑69 and the Cup Winners' Cup quarter‑final in 1969‑70, becoming the first Turkish manager to take a club to a European semi‑final. Under his guidance Göztepe won two Turkish Cups and one President’s Cup. Süvari also managed the Turkey national team from 1966 to 1968 and served on several TFF board committees.

The decision to name the upcoming season after Süvari was supported by İzmir’s football clubs, local business chambers and sports organisations, reflecting the city’s pride in the coach’s legacy. The season will be known as the "2026‑2027 Trendyol Süper Lig Adnan Süvari Sezonu".
