H. D. Deve Gowda leads JD(S) protest against Bidadi township project

Former Prime Minister H. D. Deve Gowda joined a Janata Dal (Secular) foot march in Bidadi on Monday to protest the acquisition of agricultural land for the proposed Greater Bengaluru Integrated Township (GBIT) project.

The three-day protest, supported by the BJP, involves a march from Byramangala toward Freedom Park in Bengaluru. Led by JD(S) youth wing president Nikhil Kumaraswamy, the demonstration aims to oppose the government's land acquisition plans in the Bengaluru South district.

Addressing protesters, Deve Gowda accused Karnataka Chief Minister DK Shivakumar of destroying farmers' livelihoods to serve real estate interests. He challenged the Chief Minister's claims regarding the project's origins and urged transparency regarding the motivations behind the land acquisition.
