Karnataka CM alleges BJP conspiracy to delete lakhs of voters
Karnataka Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has alleged a major conspiracy by the BJP to fraudulently delete lakhs of voters from electoral rolls, specifically targeting minority, Dalit, and Backward Class communities. Shivakumar claims that tens of thousands of computerized Form-7 applications were pre-printed at BJP headquarters and distributed to local cadres. He further alleged that BJP and JD(S) workers forcibly snatched and burned over one lakh of these applications after an FIR was registered in Bengaluru.
In response to these claims, Chief Electoral Officer V. Anbukkumar stated that no voters have been deleted based on Form-7 objections thus far, noting that all applications undergo due procedure. Meanwhile, BJP leader R Ashoka criticized Congress protests against the Election Commission, arguing that removing a constitutional official requires a formal parliamentary process rather than street demonstrations.
Separately, political tensions in the state have escalated regarding potential sting operations. Shivakumar warned his cabinet members to remain vigilant against such attempts, claiming he has evidence of a planned operation. This prompted allegations from Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy, who claimed Shivakumar previously used a sting operation to force former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah from office.
