H-E-B Quest for Texas Best announces winners

The annual Quest for Texas Best competition, hosted by the Texas supermarket chain H-E-B, has announced its winners from a record 978 entries. The contest provides cash prizes and the opportunity for small businesses to have their products stocked in H-E-B stores.

Sol Dias, a family-owned Mexican ice cream and paleta company from Haltom City, won the Grand Prize of $50,000. La Fregona, a Bastrop-based producer of chile sauce for elotes and esquites, secured first place with a $25,000 prize. Hive Food Co., a Houston-based company specializing in gourmet infused honey, took second place with $15,000.

Two companies tied for third place, receiving $10,000 each: Dean & Peeler Meats from Floresville and Uncle Marc’s from Glenn Heights. The remaining five finalists each received $5,000, bringing the total prize pool to $135,000.
