Hà Tĩnh authorities detain driver after fatal accident on Highway 8

Authorities in Hà Tĩnh province have initiated criminal proceedings and detained Phạm Trọng Đạo following a fatal traffic accident on Highway 8. The incident occurred around 18:00 on October 19 at Km 32+300 in Bắc Phú village, Hương Sơn commune.

A woman riding an electric bicycle was struck and subsequently died from her injuries. Following the collision, the driver of the vehicle, identified as Phạm Trọng Đạo (born 1989), fled the scene.

After an investigation by the Hà Tĩnh Provincial Police, Đạo was identified as the driver of a vehicle with license plate 89H-087. During questioning, Đạo admitted to causing the accident and stated he had consumed alcohol prior to driving. He is currently being held under investigation for “violating regulations on road traffic participation.”
