Ha-Ju Lee shows offensive surge with Detroit Tigers

Detroit Tigers player Ha-Ju Lee has shown significant offensive improvement following his second call-up to the Major Leagues. After an initial struggle during his first stint in April, where he posted a .205 batting average and a 59 wRC+, Lee has transformed his performance since mid-June.

Since his return, Lee has recorded a .301 batting average, an .802 OPS, and a 122 wRC+. Media outlet ‘Bless You Boys’ noted that his plate discipline and ability to hit to all parts of the field have stabilized, suggesting his hitting ability alone may secure him a spot on the Tigers' 2027 opening day roster.

However, defensive consistency remains a primary obstacle to securing a permanent starting role. While Lee possesses the necessary mobility and arm strength, his advanced defensive metrics at second and third base—including Out-of-Position Average (OAA) and Defensive Runs Saved (DRS)—have remained in negative values. Reducing errors and improving catching stability will be critical for his long-term position in the infield.
