Ha Jung-woo appointed Executive Vice Chairperson of National AI Strategy Committee

Ha Jung-woo, former Presidential Office AI Future Planning Secretary, has been inaugurated as the Executive Vice Chairperson of the National AI Strategy Committee. This appointment fills a leadership vacancy that has existed for approximately three months, transitioning the committee from a strategic planning body to an active execution system.

Under Ha’s leadership, the committee aims to establish South Korea as one of the top three global AI powerhouses. The strategy focuses on three major mega-projects: semiconductors, physical AI, and AI Data Centers (AIDC). These initiatives are designed to create an integrated ecosystem linking AI infrastructure with manufacturing and robotics.

Ha emphasized the committee's role as a central hub for national AI governance, tasked with coordinating policies across various government ministries and bridging the gap between private sector innovation and public policy. The roadmap includes expanding AI applications across industry, research, education, healthcare, and public services, while ensuring the benefits of AI are distributed broadly to all citizens.
