Ha Long Bay to host IRONMAN 70.3 competition in 2027
The IRONMAN Group has officially announced Ha Long Bay as the newest destination in its global IRONMAN 70.3 series. The inaugural event is scheduled to take place on March 21, 2027, in Quang Ninh province, Vietnam.
This expansion follows previous IRONMAN events held in Da Nang and Phu Quoc, marking a significant growth for endurance sports in northern Vietnam. The competition will feature a 113 km course, consisting of a 1.9 km swim, a 90 km bike, and a 21.1 km run through the UNESCO World Heritage site's limestone mountains and coastal landscapes.
Michelle Pepper, Asia-Pacific Managing Director of the IRONMAN Group, stated the organization is excited to bring the race to this unique location. The event is being organized in coordination with Sunrise Events Vietnam and local authorities to meet international standards. Trinh Bang, Co-founder and Chairman of Sunrise Events Vietnam, noted that the move to the north will connect various sporting communities and promote local culture and tourism to an international audience.
