Ha Tinh announces causes of fish mortality in Vung Ang and Thien Cam
The Ha Tinh Department of Natural Resources and Environment has released the results of water and seafood sample analyses following unusual fish mortality incidents in Vung Ang and Thien Cam.
Testing conducted by the provincial monitoring center confirmed that seawater quality in both areas remains safe and within national technical standards (QCVN10:2023/BTNMT), with no signs of environmental pollution.
However, biological analysis of the fish revealed specific pathogens. Cage-farmed cobia in Vung Ang tested positive for the RSIV virus, with one sample showing gill parasites affecting the respiratory system. Natural fish samples from Thien Cam, including flounder and anchor fish, showed the presence of Vibrio spp. bacteria. Authorities noted that while these pathogens were identified, the sample size remains limited.
