Ha Tinh authorities fine man for spreading fake flood news

Authorities in Ha Tinh Province have fined a Facebook user, identified as L. H. P., 15 million VND for spreading false information regarding flood damage. The individual edited a live video of local flooding in Song Tri Ward to falsely claim that a dike had breached, causing residential areas and schools to be submerged in water.

Upon investigation, the individual admitted to manipulating the footage to increase engagement and views to generate revenue from the Facebook platform. While the region experienced heavy rain and localized flooding, officials confirmed there was no widespread flooding or dike breach. The violator has since deactivated the account and paid the fine.

In a separate incident in Hue, a restaurant was fined 5.1 million VND for advertising wild animals on social media. Authorities discovered the establishment was promoting dishes made from various wild birds, including sparrows and waterfowls, without legal documentation of origin.
