Ha Tinh implements climate adaptation and agricultural restructuring

In Ha Tinh province, Vietnam, agricultural sectors are implementing proactive measures to combat increasingly extreme weather patterns and restructure production models for better economic efficiency.

To mitigate risks from heavy rainfall and unpredictable storms caused by climate change, farmers in areas like Duc Tho have adopted specialized cultivation strategies. This includes using short-growth rice varieties, such as BT09, to ensure harvests are completed before peak flood seasons. These efforts have enabled the province to complete the harvest of over 43,400 hectares of summer-autumn rice according to schedule.

Simultaneously, Huong Xuan commune is advancing agricultural restructuring through 12 distinct production linkage models. These initiatives connect local farmers with cooperatives and enterprises to develop high-value crops and livestock. Key projects include safe cucumber cultivation, Bo Chinh ginseng, pineapple production, and organic pig farming. These partnerships aim to apply safe production processes, improve product quality, and align local output with market demands.
