Ha Tinh Kindergarten Teacher Walkout Over Pay Dispute

More than 50 teachers at the Nguyen Du Plus International Kindergarten in Thanh Sen ward, Ha Tinh Province, stopped teaching on the morning of 1 August. The sudden absence of 52 of the 69 teachers (about 75%) left the school unable to admit children, forcing parents to keep their toddlers at home.

Teachers say their net monthly salary after deductions is only about 5.7 million VND, far below living costs, and they object to a contract clause that ties tuition‑waiver benefits for their children to a minimum two‑year employment commitment. They are demanding a salary increase and a revision of the tuition‑waiver policy. Nguyen Thi Bích Hảo, director of Tam Sinh Lộc Co., which operates the school, confirmed the scale of the walkout. The kindergarten, licensed since 2018, employs 111 staff members, 69 of whom teach roughly 650 children (about 400 during the summer). Parents have warned they may transfer their children to other schools if the dispute is not resolved within the coming week.
