Ha Tinh man survives after swimming 10 hours at sea
A man in Ha Tinh province, Vietnam, survived after swimming for 10 hours in the sea following a sudden surge in tides and large waves.
Nguyen Van Thanh, a resident of Co Dam commune, was harvesting clams in the Dan Hai sea area early on August 15. After returning to the water around 6:00 AM, high tides and strong waves pushed him approximately 7km away from the shore. Despite attempting to signal passing fishing vessels, he was unable to get their attention.
After struggling against the waves for 10 hours, Thanh reached the Dan Truong coastline at approximately 4:00 PM. Local residents discovered him in a state of exhaustion and dehydration, providing immediate assistance. His health has since stabilized, and he has returned home safely.
