Vietnam proposes exam surveillance cameras to prevent fraud

The Ministry of Education and Training has proposed the installation of surveillance cameras at key locations during examinations to prevent cheating. This initiative focuses primarily on national-scale and large-scale exams.

During a meeting chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Lê Tiến Châu, officials discussed measures to combat exam fraud, noting that current supervision in some areas remains loose. The Ministry also highlighted issues such as inadequacies in essay grading and the fact that academic transcripts sometimes fail to reflect actual student performance.

To address these challenges, especially the rising use of high technology for cheating, the Ministry suggested implementing camera systems, improving the selection and management of exam officials, and strictly punishing any staff members who violate regulations. The Deputy Prime Minister requested that the Ministry coordinate with the Ministry of Public Security and the Ministry of Science and Technology to advise the Prime Minister on issuing a directive to strengthen the prevention of fraud in examinations, assessments, and learning.
