Haarlem residents featured in new audio installation at De Schuur

A new free audio-visual installation titled ‘Het thuis dat in mij leeft’ (The home that lives in me) is opening in the foyer of De Schuur in Haarlem. The project is a collaboration between Toneelschuur Producties and Verborgen Verhalen.

The installation features personal, autobiographical stories from residents of Haarlem and the surrounding region. These stories were developed through sensory writing sessions led by writing coaches, exploring themes of freedom, resilience, and desire. The project also includes illustrations by graphic journalist Menah Wellens, which accompany the personal texts and audio.

This initiative complements the theatrical production ‘Mystiek Lichaam’, directed by Koen Verheijden and based on a novel by Frans Kellendonk. While the stage play addresses broad themes of identity and exclusion, the installation provides a space for local, individual experiences.
