Haas Automation to relocate jobs from California to new Nevada facility
Haas Automation, a major industrial machinery and tool manufacturer, is relocating 73 positions from Southern California to a new facility in Henderson, Nevada. According to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) filed with the California Employment Development Department, the move involves assembly workers, machine operators, and mechanics.
The company is establishing a massive 2.4 million square foot facility in Henderson, which is more than double the size of its current 1.1 million square foot production base. This new site will include a showroom, event center, machining workshops, and specialized areas for tool departments and component assembly. The transition is expected to be completed by the end of this year.
While the company is expanding in Nevada to facilitate future growth, representatives have stated that the move does not constitute layoffs, as affected employees will continue their work at the new location. Haas Automation, headquartered in Oxnard, remains a significant employer in Ventura County. The expansion to Nevada also offers tax advantages, as Nevada does not impose state personal income tax or corporate income tax, unlike California.
